Little Pumpkins

I sure missed these little girls last week while they were on Fall Break and enjoying vacations with their families and was so glad to get them all back Monday morning!

This week we are learning about pumpkins, scarecrows and the color orange. We are doing crafts and listening to stories and of course eating snacks that go along with our theme.

Here are some pictures from our "Torn Paper Pumpkin" craft that we did.

Fire Prevention and Safety Week

This week we have been learning about how to prevent fires and how to stay safe around fires.

We talked about things being HOT or COLD and to not touch hot things. We made posters to show the difference in hot and cold.

All of our Fire Safety toys and books were out for this special week. One of our favorite books is Kindertown Fire Brigade which we got from Discovery Toys awhile back. It has a CD with the story and some fun songs about firefighters that we really enjoy! I am not sure if they still carry it but you can contact Mrs. Christie's friend, Bonnie Nutzell to see if they do!

We also made some fun snacks to go along with this theme such as candle stick fruit salad and fire truck cookies. The highlight of our week was when a couple of firefighters from Three Star Fire Department brought a fire truck over!

Tomorrow we will watch our DVD called All About: Big Red Fire Engines.

Mrs. Christie said that next year, we'll be able to go to The Memphis Fire Museum! Wow!

Hello!

I know it has been a few days since I posted anything...we have been busy having fun!

This morning before my husband left for work, he let the girls feed the chickens pieces of bread through the window. They liked that! Here is a picture:
Speaking of chicken, today for lunch we had chicken patties, fries, peas, applesauce and milk. They had been outside playing for about an hour and we dirty and hungry. Now they are all alseep :)
Next week I will try to get back into the habit of posting our activities each day.
Have a blessed day!

Ice Painting

During our Winter Theme we learned about ice so we painted with it. Our color of the month is black so I froze black paint and then let the children use it to make designs on their papers. They didn't like touching the cold paint at first but then decided that it was fun and made some great art! Enjoy the pictures!

Snow!

We learned about SNOW today! It was cold enough this morning for there to be snow but unfortunately, no precipitation so we had to make due with what we had.

The first thing we did was paint snowflakes with white paint that had salt in in so that it would sparkle. After they dry, we will be cutting them out and making mobiles to hang in the room so we will have lots of snow flakes! That will be fun and pretty!

Next, we used shaving cream to make snow! When they rubbed it, the shaving cream got foamy and looked like snow. They used cars to drive through the snow. Afterwards, they used wipes to get the snow up...which made the table VERY clean!

Enjoy the pics!

Winter!

This week we are learning about winter! Today we talked about cold weather clothes and made a collage of items that you wear when it is cold outside. For snack we had frozen grapes and talked about how cold they were.
Tomorrow we are going to talk about snow, which is something we don't see much of here. We will be making snow mobiles.
They love making stuff to hang on the walls. When their moms come to pick them up, they want to show their projects off. Today, one of the girls said "look mommy, I did good" when she was showing her mom the picture she made. Isn't that sweet?
